For some reason, I decided to listen to this album on headphones this week. I hadn’t heard it from start to finish in years and I haven’t listened to it on headphones, well, ever.
Oh my! I heard layers, complexities and sonic ambience I never really noticed before. Great songs, pushing the “popular music” boundaries, heavy and light – often at the same time. This LP is a stunning follow up the classic bombast of “Led Zeppelin II” and a precursor to the Eastern influences found on Physical Graffitti.
